Ultrasound Therapy
Genesis Chiropractic is pleased to offer Ultrasound therapy. Through the use of soundwaves, Ultrasound technology gives us the ability to treat deep into the tissues without causing pain or trauma to an area that might be injured.
If Dr. Fries determines that Ultrasound therapy is right for your treatment, she will decide which type of Ultrasound therapy to provide to you, either Mechanical or Thermal.
Ultrasounds therapy can reduce pain for many conditions. It can also promote healing to injured soft tissue. It has long been an effective component of physical therapy and chiropractic treatment. If you’re interested in this treatment or have questions about the process, please contact Genesis Chiropractic, here, or call 801-676-0243.
What Can You Expect from Ultrasound Therapy?
When you arrive for Ultrasound treatment, you will be asked to make yourself comfortable in a position that makes the injured area accessible to treatment. A gel will be applied to the skin over the area being treated. The Ultrasound wand will then be applied, usually in a circular motion, to the skin covering the injured area.
Ultrasound therapy is more of a quiet therapy. The results may not be immediately apparent to you. However, the tissue will be mending itself. Ultrasound treatment is a noninvasive and nontraumatic therapy.

Frequently Asked Questions
Ultrasound therapy does not cause pain. You might feel a slight pulsing or buzzing feeling. It might feel a little warm. You should never have pain during or after Ultrasound therapy.
Thermal Ultrasound uses a continuous sound wave transmission that causes vibrations to the molecules of deep tissue. This increases heat and friction in the area which increases your metabolism and promotes healing in the soft tissue areas.
Mechanical Ultrasound uses sound wave pulses to reach deep into the tissue. This type of Ultrasound also has somewhat of a warming effect but it also causes the injured area to expand and contract. This activity reduces swelling in the affected tissues which in turn can decrease pain.
Ultrasound should never be used in the abdominal area of a pregnant woman. If you have wounds or broken skin, those areas should be avoided. If you have any plastic implants or malignancies, those areas cannot be treated. Finally, Ultrasound areas should be avoided if you have parts of your body where sensations are inhibited or numb, or where you have known or suspected blood clots.
