Ergonomic Assessments
Genesis Chiropractic offers Ergonomic Assessments to individuals and organizations in the Holladay and Salt Lake City areas. Dr. Tiffani Fries will come into your office and inspect your workspace and talk to you about your work habits. She will then make recommendations that may include changing the position of your keyboard or your chair, recommend changes on how you lift things and talk to you about taking regular breaks.
Companies who have experienced an ergonomic assessment tend to have fewer workplace injuries, fewer sick days, lower workers compensation costs. The employees have less discomfort from conditions such as back pain, poor posture, and carpal tunnel syndrome. They become more focused on wellness.

Frequently Asked Questions
Ergonomics is the process of assessing and redesigning /arranging a person’s workspace and work systems to fit the workers. Its ultimate goal is to improve the workspace and work environment to minimize the chance of injury, both sudden as well as repetitive motion injuries.
Injuries that can be prevented with the proper ergonomic set-up include carpal tunnel syndrome, neck, and arm pain. Repetitive stress injuries and cumulative trauma disorders cost organizations millions of dollars in Workers Compensation every year. By redesigning your workspace in an ergonomic manner, you reduce your risk of injuring yourself.
Good ergonomics includes making sure that you don’t sit in one position for too long. When you do, muscles get tired and your posture suffers as well as leaving you vulnerable to injury. When you work, don’t overextend your arms or legs as that causes abnormal stress on your joints. Learning to extend your joints no further than the halfway mark in your range of motion is healthier. Finally, use your larger muscles for lifting. This is where the term “lift with your knees and not with your back” comes from.
